Jack Vezmar, Counselor

Hi! My name is Jack Vezmar and I live in Michigan! Currently,
I’m a sophomore at Michigan State University, majoring in electrical
engineering, and I’ve been having a great second year! In my free time, I love listening to music, hanging out with friends, watching/playing sports such as basketball, soccer and ultimate frisbee, and just being active in general. In high school I played varsity soccer for three years and swam on the varsity swim team for three years as well! Although I live in Michigan now, I grew up in North Carolina and moved to Michigan in the seventh grade. While in North Carolina, Camp Henry played a huge part in my summers starting in 2009 when I attended camp for the first time! I always loved going to camp as a camper, even after I moved, so I’m super excited to be a counselor this year! Some of my favorite memories from camp include camp games and singing in the chapel. I can’t wait for this summer! It’s going to be a lot of fun!

See you there!

Maria Perez, Counselor

Hey Guys ! It’s Maria aka Weewa, and I can’t wait to be back for another year at camp!! This will be my 13th summer coming to camp and my second summer on staff. This year I was a teaching assistant at an independent outdoor school in Swannanoa and nanny for 3 amazing kids! In my free time I like to dance, explore, spend time with family, and play outside. In the fall I will be a junior in college majoring in psychology with a focus in pediatric development. I am looking forward to singing and dancing in the morning and spending time with campers. I cant wait to see you there! #CH2021

Michael Vezmar, Counselor

Hello! I’m Michael Vezmar and I am so excited to again be a
counselor at camp!! I was blessed enough to have this position for the past three summers, and 2021 will be my fourth straight summer as a counselor at Camp Henry! By that time, I will have just finished my senior year at Michigan State University. (Yes I am from Michigan!) I plan to graduate in the spring of 2021 from The Honors College of MSU and The College of Engineering with a degree in Materials Science. Beyond that I plan to enter the industry, and hopefully later get a master’s degree. As for my being from Michigan, I am originally from Hickory, North Carolina, and was a camper at Camp Henry for the first time in 2009. I absolutely loved my time as a camper, which lasted until 2016, and that experience inspired me to give back as a staff member! My number one goal as a counselor is to help campers have as awesome of an experience at camp as I did! I would truly not be the person I am today if it was not for my experience as a camper at Camp Henry. It is for these reasons that I reapplied for this summer, as I would like to take this opportunity as many summers as I can, while it is still in the cards for me. Some of my favorite Camp activities include night games, singing/dancing in the chapel, and swim time. At camp you may see me as a lifeguard, playing some ultimate frisbee, or at the piano during chapel time! I truly love playing piano and music in general, and it is
a very large part of my life. At MSU I am a member of the Spartan Marching
Band, Spartan Brass (hockey/basketball/volleyball band), and the MSU Concert Band playing trumpet. I count trumpet and piano as my primary instruments; however I also have experience in choir and absolutely love singing camp songs at the piano or otherwise! I cherish the opportunity I have to share my passion for music at camp (in addition to my passion for all things Camp Henry!) and am thrilled to have that opportunity again this summer! I am looking forward to the amazing time we will have! See you there!
